Replacing leaky delta monitor 1400 tub faucet?

My bathtub faucet is dripping, from the tub spout as well as from the handle. It's a Delta Monitor, one piece knob (not handle) that rotates to turn the water on/ warmer/ cooler.
In addition to leaking, the fixtures are super ugly. I'm aware that I could buy a replacement ugly Delta Monitor 1400 kit and have a plumber put it in for me (seriously no plumbing skills myself).
Are there any other options for replacing this faucet? Or is it only possible to replace this faucet with another delta monitor 1400, due to the parts in the wall etc.?

I disagree with cutting the liner away like he did though, the weep holes will work fine if you don't do this, leave the liner intact there until you are done grouting, it keeps all the sand grout etc. from going down the drain. cut it out when you are ready to turn the water on.
Also recommend you use a Delta mixer valve, at least something that all installs through one large round hole, not three separate ones, tile done right always outlasts the plumbing fixtures.
