Where to shop for remodeling supplies in Jackson

I have to be in Jacksonville next fri and sat so I figured Id try and find some good deals on the things I need to remodel my house. Where I'm from there was all kinds of wholesale and discount stores, but there isn't any where I'm currently living.
I'm looking for places that carry things like tile, bathroom vanities, plumbing fixtures (faucets, shower heads etc.) lighting, basically anything involved in a complete gut and remodel of a house at discounted prices.
Ive been searching the net and I found the Floor and Decor Outlet. If anyone knows of any other places in the Jacksonville area, or north of it near I-95 please let me know.
Thanks!!

  • Avatar carl b What advice do you all have on general things to remember to do to stay out of trouble in life?

For example, change the battery in your smoke detector once a year, or clean the lint trap in your dryer or check your credit score etc. I m creating a sort of manual to give to my son to help him out there in the real world. I know there are thousands of advice tips and I want to cover as many as possible. Thanks.

    • Never eat yellow snow? LOL, just kidding. How about paying by direct debit for any household bills so that you don t forget about them and get cut off (or whatever the equivalent is of direct debit where you live) Also, keeping the central heating on for just half an hour each day during winter when he s away to keep the pump running. Tell him not to turn off his fridge when he goes away either (as it ll just grow green mould!

I want to use reycle items at our community center . Items like recycle toilet paper.Paper plates cups etc

    • If you don t would mean that you did not go green. First thing is to avoid wasting any of these. Then you should take a close look on the whole cycle before you decide to change to it. Recycled toilet paper is much better then the eucalyptus plantation that destroy the soil. Paper plates and cups are not so good, even if recycled. Better clean you cup, and have the same cup for a very long time. No plastic bags and having one own long lasting bag is much better. Avoid all wrapping that can be spared. Ensure to have refilled soap dispenser or shampoo dispenser. Big content rather then individual …

  • Avatar nicole. Would 800 dollars be enough to re-do a room?
Oct 29, 2009 by nicole. | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

Ive outgrown the decoration of my room, and i ve been considering re decorating my room, and fixing it up alittle. i would like to fix some of the chips in the wall, possibly get wood floors or re carpet it, repaint the walls, and get new bedding and decorations. would 800 dollars be enough to get the job done? or should i save some more..?

    • Your biggest expense will be the flooring. Decide which you want; wood or wood laminate (cheaper) or carpet (cheapest). However, do not buy the cheapest of any of them you find unless it s great quality and you happen to snag a deal. The flooring will be in that room for a long time, take a lot of wear and tear and cheap will not last. And buy a neutral color or pattern so that it not only goes with your scheme now but anything that you might want in the future. Once you have the idea of what you want and about what it s going to cost, you can figure your budget. You can save some money by shopping …

  • Avatar mschulman1024 What are reasonable plumbing rates and times?
    Apr 06, 2011 by mschulman1024 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I was curious if any plumbers out there knew if these were reasonable rates and times for a plumbing job, this was in Denver Colorado if rates vary by region. I hired a plumber to do some work in a fully gutted bathroom. It was studs and floor boards with stubs ready to plumb and the drains lines already roughed in. I asked him to plumb and install a tub, shower head faucet value etc., toilet, and pedestal sink. All items were on-site and ready to be installed. He quoted $500 for time and material for the job and afterwards billed me $2,200. I paid him the $500 so far and am trying to compromise …

    • If he was a pro he would have made you sign any change orders rather it be a change in time, materials, etc. his price i would say at 75 an hour for the denver area is a bit high for this economy 60 is more like it, for a self employed plumber. but there is no way outside of him sleeping a few hours every 30 minutes it took him that long! i have many times framed full baths in a cement floor basement where my plumber had to bust cement to tie into drains tie into existing water lines for rough in of faucets and drains set tubs and then come back when i am finished with every thing to do all his …
